Guided Walks
Please read before booking a guided walk with me.
Please disclose any health issues that you have or anyone in your group so that I don’t design a walk that is beyond your level of fitness.
Please inform me if you have any pre-existing medical condition of which I should be aware and for which you may be carrying medication eg hayfever, if you carry an epipen, diabetes, epilepsy, pregnancy.
I have the right to reject any person I believe to be inadequately prepared for the walk or not to a level of fitness that I think is required.
I will be your guide/walk leader for the duration of the walk so any instructions that I give must be followed by everybody.
Most of my walks take place on footpaths, bridleways, open access land, byways and lanes. Be aware that it can be very muddy and slippery. Sometimes there are difficult stiles or gates to climb over and small streams to negotiate.
You should also carefully check the duration of the walk and ensure that you have food and drink - a hot drink is not essential but water is – you must bring enough.
Children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult. The guardian or parent who are accompanying children are responsible for them on the walk not me. This is especially import when we might have roads and railway lines to cross, fields and farmyards with livestock and paths that run alongside rivers and canals.
Please keep with the group. If you wish to leave the group please inform me and I will make it clear that you are responsible for your own safety from that point.
Note timings and the route taken may vary, depending on weather or other conditions and the overall speed of the group.
Dogs are very welcome on most walks. Dogs must be under control, well behaved and on a lead at all times (please follow countryside code concerning difficulties with livestock). There will be some stiles that are not dog friendly, livestock and other dogs. Please see my page on countryside code for advice.
Taking Part on one of my guided walks
Please use appropriate clothing and equipment for the weather conditions. This includes:-
Walking Boots
Rucksack
Poles if you need them.
Hat/cap and gloves.
Waterproofs
Sun cream if it is going to be sunny – I don’t supply sun cream
Bring any medication specific to you and your needs.
Please bring your own plasters.
I will ask you for your name, emergency contact name and number and I will ask you to sign a declaration that you have disclosed any health issues you have, that you agree to my terms and conditions and the countryside code and you can choose to agree to having photographs taken of you (these may be used on social media). Any personal data will be destroyed after the walk.
Booking Walks
Walks must be paid for by bank transfer in advance.
Changes to bookings will be accommodated where possible and I shall try to reschedule the walk on a different day.
If cancellation is required by you or me a full refund will be given (guided walks only)
I have liability insurance and I am REC first aid trained.
